Me and my friend just downloaded aoe2 again for the old times and wanted to play together online but we could not find each others computers. We both checked Internet TCP/IP and I greated a game. I told him my external IP but he could not find me. We tried the other way around and the same problem accured. What should we do?

im using a Portable version of Age of Empires2 can it be a problem?
@PBJKD There are 3 games, which one? Go to tunngle room to find gamers, or play that new AoE online.

Hey man, nice tutorial! Just for you to know, I had to copy the user.cfg to Documents>My games>Age of Empires 3> Startup to get my tunngle ip to AoE. Might be useful to add it too ;)
guys I’m having trouble with age of empires 2 lan. it only shows the hosted game rarely and when ever i do find it, when ever we click begin game, it loads for a second and both computers close saying windows has found a an error with the game and it must automatically close… y does that happen? and will tungle fix it?
@gvido70 I use tunngle and I only setup the port forwarding rule once, and that was over 2 years ago. Port forwarding is not that big of a deal, I don’t get it.
You don’t need to use portforwarding If use tunngle… Thats the point^^
@Kuxe Something is odd. Make sure tunngle is number 1 and on top of the network stack.
@knuckles91444 Save it as a .cfg with file extensions on and save it as admin.
AoE2: When I click on multiplayer, no connection types shows up in the list where TCP/IP should be listed. It just a plain empty field with no options (under Connection Types, that is..) Do you know why this happens? I have port forwarded all thinkable services related to DirectPlay and AoE.. Changing compability mode doesnt seem to work either.
Same problems occur on legal and illegal copies.. running 1.0c. W7 x64.

@MrBeliT Tunngle ip is lower left hand corner of the tunngle program when you are in the age of empires room.
@Lewsteck94 Port forward udp 11155. But if using 2 PCs, then give a new port to that second PC and open it, like 11170 is what I use.
where should i find my tunngle ip . . to write in the user CFG file . . is my tunngle ip the same with that ip that whatismyip shows me .
For Age of Empires 1 I get to the multiplayer games menu. I find a game to join (that I have made on my other PC) but when I try to join this game it always says ‘Unable to join game’. WHY!?!?
